Bailey - Co Founder of ElPasoDogParks.com

Our mission is to provide pet owners & dog lovers an online community to discuss and share ideas for requesting dog parks be built in El Paso, Texas. Properly built dog parks provide pet owners as well as non-profit organizations such as animal rescues & shelters a safe and secure place to socialize and exercise our beloved pets.

Dog parks in other cities have been shown to help reduce crime in those neighborhoods, promote outdoor family activities, improve public image, promote animal awareness, increase pet adoptions, promote local businesses, and cost very little to build and maintain. Please create an account on our website to join our community to learn more as it happens.

Thank you for stopping by!

Eastwood "Bark Park"
Please be aware that there is little to no shade or water stations at this park. The dogs must walk and run on loose gravel which can hurt their paws and cause joint injuries. Standing water has also been seen by the park which is a breeding ground for mosquitos that can spread Parvo and other diseases.
Please contact Lucy at the El Paso Parks Department (915-541-4334) to voice your concerns.

Try A Controlled Experiment In Dog Shedding

I spent an hour talking with my veterinarian discussing dog shedding, because with my 3 dogs at 70 lbs. each, there is a lot of dog hair to contend with. I asked him if perhaps my dogs had a bug, because when I vacuum there is so much shed it is uncanny! We're talking all year long. He said dogs shed and there ain't a darn thing you can do about it except get a Mexican hairless next time. Unless there is an actual falling out of hair in sections, there ain't nuthin wrong with yer dogs.

They vet sayeth: Brush them more often, bathe them more often and then brush them more often again! Make sure they are eating decent food and drinking fresh water, that's it.

The vet told me that there is also some new formula on the market that halts shedding, but he didn't believe it would actually work. He said that if I wanted to try a controlled experiment to evaluate the product, this is how to do it:

He said, be logical about it! Use the scientific method! Don't waste a lot of money, work with one dog, the one who sheds the most.

Brush the dog with a good wire brush on Wednesdays and Saturdays for the duration of the controlled experiment, beginning one week prior to using the new product.

Put the hair from each of the brushing in dated zip lock bags, which will help you see if any significant changes occur while evaluating the product.

When you are done with the product, keep brushing and zip locking on Wednesday and Saturdays for another month, and see if there is a reduction of hair over the entire evaluation.

He said that if I wanted to really see results, that I could bring in all the zip lock bags and weigh them on his scale.

Well, either way I am bringing in a fecal sample to see if they have worms or anything, as part of the scientific method.
